In Edmonton, Gary Lamphier cites sources as saying that Oilers Owner DARYL KATZ has "quietly shifted his home base to Vancouver." It is "unclear how much time he still spends in Edmonton," and Katz Group spokesperson STEVE HOGLE would not elaborate on the matter. Hogle later issued a statement "denying related rumours that Katz is considering selling either his palatial Edmonton home or the Oilers" (EDMONTON JOURNAL, 9/13).

COST OF TRAGEDY: Attorneys for Giants fan BRYAN STOW, who was beaten into a coma at Dodger Stadium on Opening Day, contend in court papers that their client's medical care "is expected to cost more than $50 million." The estimate "was included in papers filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court as part of a statement aimed at helping Judge ABRAHAM KHAN supervise the complaint through trial" (DAILYNEWS.com, 9/12).
