NBC led all weekend sports telecasts with a 7.1 overnight Nielsen rating for the Chargers-Cowboys NFL preseason matchup, leading the net to a win in primetime last night. The game was down slightly from a 7.2 overnight for Vikings-49ers in the same window last year. Eagles-Steelers scored well for Fox last week, as the 5.7 overnight for the game marked the net’s best Thursday night NFL preseason telecast since ’07. The PGA Tour had its final tournament this weekend before the FedExCup playoffs. CBS yesterday earned a 1.7 overnight for the final round of the Wyndham Championship, which saw Webb Simpson win his first tournament. That figure is up slightly from a 1.6 rating last year. CBS also saw a slight gain for coverage on Saturday (1.1 vs. 1.0). On cable TV, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Pure Michigan 400 led all sports telecasts with a 3.2 overnight on ESPN, up 18.5% from a 2.7 rating for the race last year.
