Final Ratings: NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide Series, IndyCar Each Down Last Weekend

Live race coverage of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Good Sam RV Insurance 500 from Pocono Raceway last Sunday averaged 5.485 million viewers on ESPN, topping all sports telecasts on broadcast or cable TV for the week ending August 7 despite the race having an 88-minute rain delay in the middle of the telecast. The audience figure, however, is down 11.6% from the same race last year. ESPN2 also saw a year-over-year drop for its coverage of the Nationwide Series U.S. Cellular 250 from Iowa Speedway. The net's 1.682 million viewers were down 7.3% from 1.815 million viewers for the same race last year. Meanwhile, Versus averaged 309,000 viewers for its coverage of the Izod IndyCar Series Honda Indy 200 from Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on Sunday, down 10.2% from 344,000 viewers last year.

CREATING SPACE: Univision averaged 4.5 million viewers for its telecast of the U.S.-Mexico friendly on Wednesday night from 8:30-11:12pm ET, marking the No. 1 program of the night across all networks, broadcast or cable. The telecast was also the top-rated program for the night across nets among adults and males 18-34 and people 12-34. U.S.-Mexico also led Univision to a win among all nets in primetime for night among adults and males 18-49 and 18-34. Meanwhile, Galavision averaged 789,000 viewers the FC Barcelona-Chivas de Guadalajara match on August 3, marking the most-viewed match among all '11 Herbalife World Football Challenge telecasts. On English-language TV, the FC Barcelona-Manchester United match on July 30 took the top spot, averaging 703,000 viewers on ESPN2.

NOTES: X Games 17 averaged 1.039 million viewers across ABC/ESPN/ESPN2 this year, up 6% from last year. The Sunday afternoon ESPN telecast on July 31 averaged 1.945 million viewers, marking the second most-viewed summer X Games telecast ever on the net. The most-viewed telecast was on August 20, 2000....Rogers Sportsnet One averaged 557,000 viewers for the A's-Blue Jays matchup on Wednesday night, marking the net's biggest audience ever. The previous high was 414,000 viewers for White Sox-Blue Jays on May 26.
