No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn: Nets Unveil First Renderings Of Barclays Center Interior

The Nets yesterday unveiled renderings of the interior spaces of Barclays Center, which was designed by SHoP Architects PC. The entrance to the arena will feature a public plaza that has an overhead oculus the size of a basketball court that is lined with LED signage. The Main Concourse will include the Legends Lounge, a two-sided bar with a platform offering a direct view into the seating bowl. Other clubs in the arena will include Beers of the World, the Main Concourse Bar, Suite Level Bar/Lounge and the Courtside Club, which offers premium seat holders views of the players and entertainers walking to and from the court or stage (Nets). In N.Y., Rich Calder notes Barclays Center "will be packed with a slew of modern amenities" when it opens next September. The Nets' new home will become the "most modern" arena in N.Y., and the "sights are dramatic." Nets CEO Brett Yormark: "This building is designed to be inviting to everyone, whether they have premium seats or not." Arena officials said that the facility "will have attractions for all," including fans "sitting in the $15 cheap seats." The arena also "promises to have among the country’s best site lines for a sports venue, since Barclays Center was designed specifically for basketball" (N.Y. POST, 7/20).
