Clement Family Announced As New Ownership Group For Iowa Speedway

Former Featherlite President & CEO Conrad Clement yesterday was introduced as “the key figure in the new primary ownership group” of Iowa Speedway, according to Mark Emmert of the DES MOINES REGISTER. Clement’s brother, Stan, and sons, Tracy and Eric, “joined him to buy U.S. Motorsports Corp. -- the holding company that owns the speedway -- effective June 30.” Rusty Wallace, the track’s designer, “remains as a minority partner.” Terms of the sale were not released. Iowa Speedway had been owned by the Manatt family for its first 58 months, but track President & CFO Jerry Jauron said that the “plan had always been to find new owners within five years.” Clement said that the speedway’s staff “will remain intact, and that the fans should see no difference in their raceday experiences.” The next event at the speedway is the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Coca-Cola 200 on July 16. The track also hosts the Izod IndyCar Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series races. There have been “talks about a possible IndyCar doubleheader race weekend next season” (DES MOINES REGISTER, 7/6).
