Jaguars Seek To Sell 11,000 More Season Tix To Ensure Games Are Televised

The Jaguars are "still about 11,000 season-ticket sales away from their goal of having 43,000 season-tickets sold," according to Tania Ganguli of the FLORIDA TIMES-UNION. In order to avoid blackouts, the team must "sell 50,957 tickets for each game's general bowl." The Jaguars "have already sold 32,000 of those seats," and the "goal is to reach 43,000 season tickets and then sell the remaining 7,000 through group sales." The Jaguars, who "announced a renewal of loyalty rewards programs Tuesday for season-ticket holders," also "still have 4,000 club seats remaining -- which don't count against blackout numbers -- and 20 luxury boxes." Jaguars Senior VP/Sales & Marketing Macky Weaver said that "on a typical day, the Jaguars are selling about 20 to 30 season tickets." Those numbers "increased on Friday, April 29," the day after the team selected QB Blaine Gabbert in the first round of the NFL Draft and the "final deadline for season-ticket renewals before seats were released to the general public." The team that day "sold 100 new season tickets and had 400 renewals." Ganguli noted the "pace of ticket sales is about 10 percent to 12 percent behind last year." The "number of tickets sold at this point is similar, though, because the Jaguars had a head start with the 17,000 tickets sold" as part of the team's 30/30 Plan. Ticket sales "exceeded last year's pace before the NFL lockout began March 12 but slowed to a crawl afterward" (FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 5/18).
