Serena Causes Stir Upon Return To Court By Wearing Bright Pink Bodysuit

Serena Williams "went viral again" this week after she returned to the tennis court for practice on Tuesday wearing a "bright pink body suit," according to Greg Couch of SPORTINGNEWS.com. She has been out of action since last year due to various injuries and illnesses, and the "entirety of Williams’ assault on pop culture Tuesday was a picture she posted on her Twitter account, which has 2 million followers." Nike has not claimed "credit for this yet, but it sure looked like a setup, with that Swoosh showing." The outfit "was genius," and it is "what makes Serena who she is." Couch: "No one else could have worn that. ... Serena Williams is a brand, so when she puts on a wild pink outfit, everyone talks. If Albert Pujols, not a brand, put on all-pink, everyone would say, 'What the heck is he doing?’" On Monday, the day before Williams posted the picture, "tennis lost its next best player, Kim Clijsters, for a few months after she tore up her ankle falling off high heels while dancing at a wedding," and "no one noticed." But Williams is the "master of getting people talking about her and all her different outfits," and thus she "was already the talk of the sports world" as soon as she returned to practice (SPORTINGNEWS.com, 4/13).

GREAT DANE: Top-ranked tennis player Caroline Wozniacki has announced a deal to become a brand ambassador for Compeed, which manufactures blister remedy products. Wozniacki will be launching a new Extreme Blister Patch (THE DAILY).
