NBA, Movie Studios Ink Deals To Market New Films During Playoffs

Movies During Playoffs
The NBA has signed agreements with "three film studios to promote four summer movies during the NBA playoffs as part of the league's postseason marketing effort," according to John Lombardo of SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. Each round of the NBA playoffs "will have a different co-branded movie promotion." The first co-branded spot is for Fox' "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," while Sony's "Angels and Demons" will "run a co-branded spot during the second round." Universal's "Land of the Lost" will be promoted during the Western Conference Finals and Sony's "Year One" will be featured during the Finals. Each of the four spots "will include NBA game footage in the movie promotion." Other new creative being launched around the playoffs is a "30-second spot by Hewlett-Packard featuring [Celtics F] Kevin Garnett," and a new Nike commercial focusing on Cavaliers F LeBron James (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 4/20 issue).

ALL-STAR ACCESS: USA TODAY reports if a grand slam is hit during the MLB All-Star Game on July 14 at Busch Stadium, the "first 1 million people to register on Disney.com will get a ticket to 'G-Force' on its opening day, July 24." Fans can register at Disney.com beginning Wednesday until midnight on July 14. Fans attending the game will be handed cards "redeemable for a Grand Slam free ticket" (USA TODAY, 4/20).
