Work Nearly Complete On $25M Georgia Dome Renovations

Georgia Dome Renovations Nearing Completion
Work on the $25M in renovations at the Georgia Dome is “almost complete,” according to Tim Tucker of the ATLANTA CONSTITUTION.  The renovations include two new LED video boards; the “elimination of 40 of the Dome's original 204 suites and their replacement by eight new ‘super-suites’” that seat 57-96 people; a “sleeker and more spacious club lounge area; and newly outfitted suites.”  The renovations are being funded by the Falcons under an agreement with the Georgia World Congress Center Authority, which operates the Dome, that “gives the team an increased cut from sales of suites, club seats and advertising.” Coca-Cola, Miller Brewing, Verizon and AT&T have purchased four of the eight super-suites “in their entirety,” and two of the others still have seats available for individual purchase at $4,000 apiece, including food and soft drinks.  Team officials said that the regular suites are fetching an average annual price of $95,000, up from $57,000 last year, while club seats are going for an average of $2,400 per year, up from $1,500.  Falcons VP/Sales Dave Cohen said that “all but seven of 164 suites, all but 146 of 4,600 club seats and all but 200 of 676 super-suite seats have been leased.”  The Falcons have sold club level naming rights to Verizon Wireless (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 7/29).
