Fox Earns 9.2/14 Overnight
For NLCS Game Six
Fox earned a 9.2/14 overnight Nielsen rating for Cardinals-Mets NLCS Game Six last night, down 16.4% from an 11.0/17 for Astros-Cardinals NLCS Game Six last year. The game earned a 40.1/52 in St. Louis and a 20.7/30 in N.Y. (THE DAILY).

CUTS AT KMPC: In L.A., Tom Hoffarth reports in his blog that Vulcan Sports Media has laid off sales, promotion and update staff at KMPC-AM in Santa Monica, an affiliate of Sporting News Radio Network. Vulcan recently sold Sporting News and its assets to American City Business Journals, parent company of THE DAILY. KMPC GM Roger Nadel, whose job was cut, in an e-mail wrote, “The three radio stations owned by Vulcan Sports Media [including KMPC] were not sold in that deal, and remain for sale. Vulcan Sports Media has now decided that they want to focus their efforts on their affiliation with Sporting News Radio Network rather than local operations.” Hoffarth writes the announcement “essentially eliminates any local sports-talk shows as of” today (DAILYNEWS.com, 10/18).

VIDEO MAVENS: The HOLLYWOOD REPORTER’s Carly Mayberry reports YouTube and CBS have launched the CBS Brand Channel, a “central part of the content and advertising partnership between the two companies announced last week.” It includes archival sports footage and “in the coming weeks” will feature CBS analysis of college and professional sports and programming from CSTV (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 10/19).
