The June 9-11 Champions Tour Bank of America Championship, which was postponed after Nashawtuc Country Club in Concord, Massachusetts, was deemed unplayable due to rain, has been canceled, according to Jim McCabe of the BOSTON GLOBE. Tournament officials said that the cancellation was due to the “cost to reconstruct all the infrastructure, the effort to recruit all the volunteers ... and the challenge of making sure enough players could make the proposed” September 22-24 makeup date. Tournament Dir Tracy West said that there were “so many obstacles that tournament officials never even officially asked the folks at Nashawtuc CC about another week.” BofA Exec VP/Sponsorship & Regional Marketing Rick Parsons said, “Everybody shares a little pain here, financially. It was a very, very difficult time.” Champions Tour President Rick George said that a “significant contribution to charity” will still be made, but the amount is undetermined.
