Runaway Bride: OTB Holds Show To Remake Image, Attract Women

OTB last night held a Manhattan fashion show “to remake its gritty image and attract a younger and more female crowd to 13 [N.Y.] restaurants that offer off-track betting,” according to the N.Y. DAILY NEWS. OTB, which has been “reeling from funding shortages and recent parlor closings,” is hoping the restaurants can draw a “kind of crowd rarely seen at local betting parlors.” OTB spokesperson Brian Flynn: “When your back’s up against the wall, you have to try some new things.” Stephen Travers, a Manager at the participating Playwright restaurant, said, “When you think OTB, you don’t think women. But on Saturday, with the Belmont Stakes, we’ll have girlfriends all over the place” (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 6/8).
