NFL Behind Fox' Decision Not To
Air GoDaddy.com Spot Second Time

The NFL’s effort to take greater control over its broadcasts –- including the commercials that run during the Super Bowl –- was met with mixed success Sunday. After finding GoDaddy.com’s spot parodying a wardrobe malfunction objectionable, the league implored Fox to nix the second airing of the ad. GoDaddy.com Founder Bob Parsons, who was expecting to see a repeat of the provocative ad in the last two minutes of the game, said, “I believe that it's the first time ever a decision was made to pull an ad after it had already been run once during the same broadcast.” But the NFL was unsuccessful again this year in trying to block the city of Las Vegas from circumventing league policy by purchasing time directly from Fox affils, as the Convention & Visitors Authority spent a reported $2.2M for spots in eight major markets.
