The U.S. Army has extended its sponsorship of the AFL through the ’05 season, maintaining its status as the official military service partner of the league for the fourth consecutive year. All of the Army’s sponsorships are reviewed on an annual basis. New elements of the deal include the Army’s presenting sponsorship of AFL Fantasy Football and an expanded high school fitness and educational initiative, which was tested in five AFL markets during the off-season. The Army also receives exposure through jersey logos, on-field signage and in-arena promotions, as well as other marketing considerations. The Army will continue to be presenting sponsor of the league’s Ironman program, and each AFL market will hold “U.S. Army Week” during the regular season that includes local high school visits featuring player appearances and AFL flag-football games. The AFL will also continue its involvement with the Army’s “Spring Break” program in Panama City, Florida, that includes an AFL Command Center with an AFL beach football setup and a sports lounge (AFL).
