The Core Is The Hottest Part: TNT Targets NASCAR Diehards

TNT has “shifted the target of its NASCAR ad campaign this season, going after racing enthusiasts rather than general sports fans,” according to Steve Donohue of MULTICHANNEL NEWS. The campaign, via Chicago-based Element 79 Partners, features drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne, Mark Martin and Jamie McMurray. Turner is also buying 90-second radio spots that “feature a recap of the previous week’s race and a preview of the upcoming” race. SPEED RACERS: NASCAR and Turner’s Cartoon Network have launched a Kellogg’s-sponsored TV and Web campaign titled “NASCARtoon Racing.” Cartoon Network has begun airing 30-second spots. The promotion includes a national sweepstakes to award a trip to an ’05 Nextel Cup race and an online game where fans can design their own racecar(NASCAR).
