DON'T ANGER A TIGER: TIGER WOODS said Shamwari Game Reserve founder ADRIAN GARDINER "betrayed" him last week by alerting the media of his engagement to ELIN NORDEGREN. Woods said that Gardiner "promised to protect his privacy." Gardiner: "Elin showed the ring to members of my staff. I'm sad that he has taken that attitude because I went to great lengths to protect his privacy" (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 12/2).

GORDON ON THE AIR: NASCAR Winston Cup driver JEFF GORDON appeared on CNBC's "The News With Brian Williams" last night to discuss his new book, "RACING BACK TO THE FRONT." Gordon, on building a racetrack in the N.Y. area: "We need to make an impact on New York and we're slowly getting there" ("The News With Brian Williams," CNBC, 12/2). Gordon appeared this morning on "Live With Regis and Kelly" and shared his lasagna recipe (THE DAILY).

TICKET TAKERS: The first phase of ticket sales for the '04 ATHENS GAMES "produced more than twice as much revenue and nearly twice as many tickets sold as expected." The 591,112 tickets sold in Greece, a country of 10.6 million people, is "barely 10[%] of the final total (5.28 million) sold for the" '00 Games in Australia, a country of 19.7 million (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 12/3).

DEALING: NBA HOFer BOB LANIER and CHRIS GOODYEAR have had four books published by Scholastic under the series "HEY L'IL D!" The books are based on Lanier's childhood in Buffalo, "when his friends called him L'il Dobber" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 12/1)....Representatives are "working on selling TV, film and book rights" the story of former NFLer ROY SIMMONS, who is the first NFL player to talk openly about being gay and HIV-positive (N.Y. NAMES: F-1 champion MICHAEL SCHUMACHER reportedly will pay $14M for a "lakeside mansion complete with an underground garage for 19 cars" on a 32-acre plot on Switzerland's, Lake Geneva. The home plan includes a 60-foot indoor pool, a sauna, an interior climbing wall and a 678-square-foot trophy room (MIAMI HERALD, 11/30).... LAUDERHILL, FLORIDA, has won the right to represent the U.S. in an official bid to host a CRICKET WORLD CUP match in '07, beating out N.Y. (Ft. Lauderdale SUN-SENTINEL, 12/3).
