Moreno Wants To
See 3 Million Again

ANGELS: In L.A., Ross Newhan reports Angels Owner Arte Moreno "confirmed that he hopes to build a training complex for the Angels in the new Phoenix area development of Goodyear, and he stressed that his advertising and marketing reach will continue to expand beyond" Orange County. Moreno: "To be competitive long term, we need to stretch our wings out. We have to reach out, invite people to come rather than waiting for them to come. My goal is to draw three million fans again. Our capacity potential is about 3.8 million. I'd like to do 90% of that" (L.A. TIMES, 11/13).

VIKINGS: In Minneapolis, Sid Hartman reports the word "in financial circles is that [Vikings Owner] Red McCombs is more eager than ever to sell the team." People close to McCombs said that he "is not convinced the Vikings will get a stadium in the near future." But T'Wolves Owner Glen Taylor, who has "interest in buying the team at the right price, said he hasn't heard from McCombs or his agents recently" (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 11/13).

NOTES: Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones, on the criticism Redskins Owner Dan Snyder has received this season: "Keep that passion going. He wants to win and he's willing to do everything within his abilities to win. It's been my experience that if it doesn't work, ... when you work for yourself and Dan has most of his life, then you've got to look in the mirror and just basically say, 'Hey, we've got to do it a different way'" ("PTI," ESPN, 11/12)....Former NBAer Shawn Kemp has joined the ownership group of the USBL Oklahoma Storm for the '04 season. Bulls F Eddie Robinson is also a member of the Storm's ownership group (USBL).
