ESPN’s First Scripted Series
To Delve Into Pro Football

ESPN is "making its first foray into scripted series" with "Playmakers," a "one-hour drama set in the world of professional football," according to Nellie Andreeva of the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. ESPN "has given an 11-episode order to the project" from writer-producer and former college football player John Eisendrath. The series is "a gritty ensemble drama about the off-field lives of a group of players on a pro football team and how they deal with the pressure of being in the NFL." Eisendrath will serve as Exec Producer along with Rob Thomas and Orly Adelson. The show, which will air 9:00pm ET, followed by an immediate rerun at 10:00pm ET, is scheduled to begin production in June in Canada for its Tuesday, August 26 premiere (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 4/4).
