Jacksonville Suns To Play In New $34M Ballpark

The FLORIDA TIMES-UNION’s Matt Galnor reports that the Jacksonville City Council signed a “lease agreement for the (Double-A Southern League) Jacksonville Suns to play in the city’s news $34[M] ballpark” that has not yet been completed.  The city will “receive about $93,000 annually in rent from the team,” and will also get a $0.50 surcharge on every ticket.  Additionally, the $5 parking fee per car will be collected by the city, while the team will keep all concession revenues.  The city will also keep any revenue from naming rights for the 11,000-seat ballpark.  The 10-year lease includes two five-year options (FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 3/12).
