To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the "most famous home run in Twins history" — Kirby Puckett's game-winner in Game Six of the '91 World Series against the Braves — a new Puckett bobblehead doll will be unveiled tomorrow at Mall of America before it goes on sale next month (STAR TRIBUNE, 10/25)....AD AGE's Bob Garfield, on the Mountain Dew Code Red ad featuring NBAers Tracy McGrady and Chris Webber playing at a playground: "There is nothing about this commercial that resembles any past contrivance." Also, "even in the midst of more outside-world reality than any of us ever bargained for, this is a slice of real life you can't take your eyes off of" (AD AGE, 10/25 issue)....In Toronto, Bill Lankhof, on the compromise reached to allow golfers in next month's UBS Warburg Cup to wear hats with their own sponsors' logo: "You'd think with all the money [sponsors] like Warburg put into events, the participants might be a little more thankful, or at least gracious, and wear their crummy hats" (TORONTO SUN, 10/25)....The SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL's Langdon Brockinton reports the Bears have signed a multiyear, "high seven-figure" sponsorship deal with Cadillac. The GM brand "also becomes the first sponsor of the renovated Soldier Field," scheduled to open in '03 (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 10/22 issue).
