The WALL STREET JOURNAL's Sally Beatty reports TNT is "recasting itself as the network viewers should turn to" for live sports events, in addition to dramatic series, via a new TV ad campaign (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 6/5). In Atlanta, Matt Kempner reports that in the promo spots, a "batch of stars," including Whoopi Goldberg, Jeff Gordon, Andre Agassi and Shaquille O'Neal, "will try to answer the question, 'What is drama?'" O'Neal's response: "Drama is being 6-foot-2 in the fifth grade" (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 6/5).

NAMES & FACES: Nike is placing its new Tiger Woods logo on Woods' apparel, beginning with this month's U.S. Open in Tulsa (GOLFmail, 6/4)....World Features Syndicate presented the "average weekly earnings from current endorsement contracts" for several athletes: George Foreman (Salton), $529,000 per week for five years; Woods (Nike), $385,000 per week for five years; Grant Hill (Fila), $220,000 per week for seven years; Davis Love III (Titleist), $96,000 per week for ten years; and Allen Iverson (Reebok), $96,000 per week for ten years (L.A. TIMES, 6/4).
