ESPN.COM TAKES JIMMY V CLASSIC AUDIOCAST TO A NEW LEVEL

ESPN.com's audio of the Jimmy V Classic on Tuesday was
"exclusive and different," according to Tommy Cummings of
the S.F. CHRONICLE, who noted that the four-team college
basketball tournament was not available on ESPN Radio. What
made the tournament "worth sitting in front of the computer
for a few hours was content," which made it "seem more than
the average" Internet audiocast. During the game, ESPN
Radio announcer Bob Valvano and ESPN.com writer Andy Katz
answered questions submitted by users. ESPN.com VP & Exec
Editor John Marvel, on the broadcast, "It's great to be able
to give our users something different." ESPN.com "plans to
crunch the online viewing numbers next week to see if repeat
broadcasts are worth pursuing" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 12/20).
