WHEN WILL IT END? STOCKS GET HIT HARD ON THE STREET

          In trading yesterday, the Dow dropped 2.5% and the
     Nasdaq composite was off 7.1%.  THE DAILY lists recent stock
     performances of selected sports-related stocks.  The first
     "% +/-" shows the change in stock price from Tuesday's close
     to Wednesday's close.  The "One-Day" shows the change from
     yesterday to press time today, and the "Two-Day" shows the
     change from Tuesday's close to press time (THE DAILY).

     Street?  [Nike Chair & CEO] Phil Knight [is]. ... The stock
     got a boost today, adding over one-and-a-half, as investors
     responded to news that the company met Wall Street earnings
     expectations, now considered a feat."  Knight's "one day
     gain on paper" is $147.7M ("Business Center," 12/20).
