ABC "MNF" sideline reporter Lesley Visser "is being
replaced" after three years, according to USA TODAY's Rudy
Martzke, who writes that Visser "is expected to be replaced"
by ESPN's Melissa Stark (see THE DAILY, 6/16). Visser, who
was told of the move yesterday, said, "It's a producer's
privilege to re-create a broadcast. I loved 'Monday Night
Football' and I wish them well" (USA TODAY, 6/22). In N.Y.,
Richard Sandomir writes that "MNF" Producer Don Ohlmeyer
"plans to hire two reporters" to replace Visser, previously
"MNF"'s only sideline reporter. Sandomir adds that in
naming a new booth analyst, Ohlmeyer "must create a credible
buzz," and an "inspired choice would be" ESPN's Andrea
Kremer (N.Y. TIMES, 6/22). In Orlando, David Whitley notes
speculation that former Chargers QB Dan Fouts will be named
to the team: "Nothing against ex-jock announcers. But if
the rumors are true, the network has stumbled yet again."
ABC "didn't need an ex-jock. It needed an arrogant, sexist,
bigoted radio jock [Rush Limbaugh]" (ORL. SENTINEL, 6/22).
