TV MONITOR: Last night's 10:00pm ET edition of FSN's
"Fox Sports News" led with the completion of The Players
Championship, followed by Mavs-Jazz. Last night's 11:00pm
ET edition of CNN/SI's "Sports Tonight" also led with TPC,
followed by the possible trade of Braves P John Rocker to
the Expos. Last night's 11:00pm ET edition of ESPN's
"SportsCenter" led with Spurs-Sonics, followed by TPC.
BUMPER CARS: In Winston-Salem, Mike Mulhern wrote that
ESPN's decision to "bump" Saturday's BGN Cheez-It 250 to a
tape-delayed 4:00pm ET broadcast in order to carry the NCAA
women's basketball tournament "raised some eyebrows in the
NASCAR garage." While TV officials said that a 4:00pm ET
start "may be better from a television standpoint," race
promoters "are nervous that such television business angles
may lead to some big changes in starting times for next
season's" BGN and Winston Cup races (W-S JOURNAL, 3/27).
NOTES: In Minneapolis, Steve Aschburner reports that
Sunday's Raptors-T'Wolves game on NBC earned a 7.7/13 local
rating (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 3/28)....Rocky Mountain
News MLB writer Tracy Ringolsby debuted last night as an MLB
analyst for Fox Sports Net and will work on FSN's "Fox
Sports News" and "Baseball Today" programs (FSN)....In
Baltimore, Bill Free reports that the "Nasty Nationwide"
sports radio show, featuring Nestor Aparicio, will be heard
in 140 radio markets on the One on One network beginning
April 3 (Baltimore SUN, 3/28)....The WALL STREET JOURNAL's
Joe Flint notes rumored changes at ABC has the network
"returning" former ABC Inc. President Steven Bornstein to
post or "bringing in someone new." Former NFL President
Neil Austrian "was approached" about the ABC position, but a
"deal couldn't be worked out" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 3/28).
