DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE STREET VALUE OF THIS FIELD IS, MAN?

The Devil Rays are buying a new grass-like artificial
turf called FieldTurf that team Managing General Partner
Vince Naimoli said "will dramatically alter the look" of the
Tropicana Field, according to John Romano of the ST.
PETERSBURG TIMES. Naimoli: "It'll be just like an outdoor
stadium." The FieldTurf surface "is expected to arrive" next
week, and the grounds crew "will work at an accelerated
pace" to install it in time for the April 7 home opener.
The team is paying "about" $1M for the new turf, but team
officials said that "it will be worth the investment," as it
will "play more like real grass," and "aesthetically, the
turf will give the illusion of natural grass with its
synthetic blend of fibers" (ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 3/14).
Also in St. Petersburg, Marc Topkin that the Devil Rays
"likely would recoup some of" the $1M cost of FieldTurf by
selling the current AstroTurf (ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 3/13).
