FACILITY NOTES

          The Downtown Development Authority created a "special
     committee" Monday to "advise" the Miami Commission on where
     the Marlins "ought to build a new ballpark" (MIAMI HERALD,
     1/25)....In Denver, Bill Scanlon reports that demolition
     company Spiritas Wrecking began tearing down McNichols
     Sports Arena Monday (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 1/25)....In N.Y.,
     George Vecsey wrote: "There is nothing quite like Conseco
     Fieldhouse, where the past is blended with the present, so
     lovingly, so handsomely" (N.Y. TIMES, 1/23)....In NJ, Alex
     Nussbaum reports that the owners of the Atlantic League NJ
     Patriots baseball team want to build a 6,000-seat ballpark
     in Leonia, NJ, and Bergen County has formed a task force "to
     make" it a "reality."  Nussbaum writes the field would cost
     $20M "or more" with "much of it financed by taxpayers."  The
     task force "is expected" to report back by the end of
     February (Bergen RECORD, 1/25).
