FRUIT OF THE LOOM LISTENING TO OFFERS FOR PRO PLAYER

          As it filed for protection under Chapter 11 of the U.S.
     Bankruptcy Code last week, Fruit of the Loom acknowledged
     that its NH-based Pro Player sports licensing subsidiary is
     for sale, according to a report in the BOSTON HERALD.  Fruit
     of the Loom spokesperson Lauren Teggelaar: "Pro Player is on
     the market."  Pro Player has more than 200 employees in NH
     and another 300 in KY (BOSTON HERALD, 12/30).  In Chicago,
     Deborah Cohen reported that Pro Player  accounted for
     approximately 7.5% of Fruit of the Loom's '98 sales of $2.2B
     (CRAIN'S CHICAGO BUSINESS, 12/20 issue).
