CLAYTON SAYS NFL MEETING IN ATLANTA MAY BE "INTERESTING"

NFL owners meet in Atlanta today and on the agenda is
part of a lawsuit filed by Raiders Owner Al Davis which
claims that Commissioner Paul Tagliabue and former President
Neal Austrian set up an executive compensation fund that was
not fully disclosed (see THE DAILY, 11/30). ESPN's John
Clayton said today could be the "preview of what's going to
be a very wild trial [Davis vs. NFL] because ... [Davis] is
going to make a presentation [that] there's been a
malfeasance of several top people in the NFL, including
[Tagliabue and Austrian], and he's going to go down the list
of 50 people that he thinks misappropriated funds and took
them into their pockets. ... He is going have the owners try
to act on it, and if they don't act ... he's going to
include this in his lawsuit and try to get more damages out
of the NFL. It should be interesting" (ESPN2, 11/30).
