MEDIA NOTES

          TV MONITOR: Last night's 11:00pm ET edition of CNN/SI's
     "Sports Tonight" led with a 5:05 report on Wayne Gretzky's
     induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame, followed by Pacers-
     Celtics and Spurs-76ers.  FSN's "Primetime" led with Spurs-
     76ers, followed by Pacers-Celtics.  "Primetime" followed its
     initial NBA coverage with a 1:10 report on Gretzky's Hall of
     Fame induction.  The 12:00am ET edition of "SportsCenter"
     led with Pacers-Celtics, followed by T'Wolves-Jazz. 
     Coverage of the NCAA basketball Maui Invitational followed
     early NBA coverage.  "SportsCenter" dedicated 3:02 to
     Gretzky's induction, at 6:26 into the broadcast (THE DAILY).
          OVERNIGHT ON ABC: Last night's Raiders-Broncos "MNF"
     game earned a 13.4/21 overnight Nielsen rating (ABC).
          OLBERMANN'S GREATEST: On last night's "Primetime,"
     FSN's Keith Olbermann said, "What are you doing for the next
     month?  Starting tonight and ending a month from tomorrow,
     we're going to bring you 'The Century's Real 50 Greatest
     Athletes.'  It's not like we're keeping how they were chosen
     as secret as the formula for Coca-Cola or anything.  These
     are my opinions" ("Primetime," FSN, 11/22).
          OTHER NOTES: The SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL's Langdon
     Brockinton reports that the NBA "has lined up" one-year TV
     agreements with NTK in Kazakhstan, Melita Sports Channel in
     Malta, Anem TV in Serbia and RTVM in Montenegro, increasing
     the league's total worldwide TV partners to 128
     (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 11/22 issue)....USA TODAY's Rudy
     Martzke reports that the 6.9 Nielsen overnight rating for
     Saturday's FL State Univ.-Univ. of FL game was CBS' highest
     college football rating in "nearly nine years" (USA TODAY,
     11/23)....Sunday's Cowboys-Cardinals game drew a 24.0/48
     local rating in the Phoenix area (AZ REPUBLIC, 11/23).
     ...Forrester Research "estimates" that between Thanksgiving
     and New Year's Day, 8.6 million households will shop on the
     Internet, spending a "record" $4B (CNET News, 11/22).
