ALL THAT GLITTERS ISN'T GOLD: TEAMS NIX POPULAR ARENA TUNE

The Maple Leafs and Raptors are the latest teams to
"drop" the popular arena anthem "Rock And Roll Part Two,"
after its writer, British singer Gary Glitter, "was jailed"
for four months in England for possessing child pornography,
according to Dan Ralph of the CP. The Maple Leafs and the
Flames are the only Canadian NHL teams to drop the song,
which has become a "trademark" at many venues with its
"hey!" refrain, but officials with the Oilers, Canucks and
Canadiens said that their teams "were considering whether to
keep it on their arena play lists." Maple Leafs Dir of
Media Relations Pat Park: "Considering the circumstances, we
think it's the right decision" (CANADIAN PRESS, 11/16).
