MARKEY to the newly created position of VP/Communications.
Markey will oversee the media and PR staffs for the
Cavaliers and WNBA Rockers. Markey spent the last 12 years
with NBC (AKRON BEACON JOURNAL, 10/15)....The SLOC named
ROSS WELCH as Controller to be responsible for general
accounting, internal and external audits and budgetary
assistance (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 10/15)....The Warriors named
OTIS SMITH as Exec Dir of Community Relations/Warriors
Foundation. Smith spent the last two years as VP/Marketing
& Community Relations for the Boy's & Girl's Club Of Central
FL (Warriors)....Fox Sports News named CHRIS ROSE as an
anchor/reporter. Rose was a sports anchor, host and
reporter for CNN and CNN/SI the past two years (Fox Sports
Net)....Major League Lacrosse (MLL) has named the initial
members of the league's Advisory Committee: MARK MILLON,
CASEY POWELL, DOM STARSIA, BILL TIERNEY, TED BAUER, STEVE
STENERSEN and CHAD WATSON. MLL Exec Dir GEORGE "GABBY" ROE
said the committee will have quarterly planning sessions
(MLL)....MLS Wizards GM DOUG NEWMAN will not return next
