WILL WOMEN'S HOOP SPONSORS RATHER BE IN PHILADELPHIA?

Philadelphia Women's Basketball 2000, the local
organizing committee for the 2000 NCAA Women's Final Four to
be held in Philadelphia, "is getting ready to make its big
push for corporate sponsorships," according to John George
of the PHILADELPHIA BUSINESS JOURNAL, who reports the goal
of the committee is to raise $1.4M. Committee Exec Dir
Cathy Andruzzi said that the group is "putting together its
first two sponsorship packages" for Philadelphia-based
Independence Blue Cross and first-time sports sponsor N.J.-
based American Water Works. Discussions "are also taking
place" with Peco Energy and Sunoco. Andruzzi said that the
corporate sponsorship packages "start at $25,000."
Andruzzi: "It's an interesting sell. A lot of people know
the Women's Final Four is coming here, but they don't know
about us. That's why we are going to get out there and talk
to people" (PHILADELPHIA BUSINESS JOURNAL, 10/11 issue).
