STAPLES STILL INTERESTED IN FENWAY DEAL? CEO SAYS YES

Staples CEO Thomas Stemberg said naming rights at a new
Fenway Park could attract the MA-based company's interest,
according to Greg Gatlin of the BOSTON HERALD. But Red Sox
ballpark spokesperson Kathryn St. John said, "Our strong
desire is to retain the name as Fenway Park." Stemberg: "We
have no specific plans or intentions, but we clearly have
been happy with our first endeavor [in L.A.]. We'd be open
minded." As far as the $100M Staples Center naming rights
deal in L.A., Stemberg said, "People wondered if it was
worth it. ... The publicity we've gained even before it's
opened has been mind-boggling" (BOSTON HERALD, 10/15).
