BOSTON STUDY SHOWS RENOVATED FENWAY TO COST UPWARDS OF $500M

A study prepared by PricewaterhouseCoopers conducted
for the city of Boston "at no cost" concludes that the plan
to renovate Fenway Park would cost "almost as much as the
team's proposal to build" a new $545M ballpark, according to
Meg Vaillancourt in a front-page report in today's BOSTON
GLOBE. The study concludes that the design and construction
involved in the Save Fenway Park plan would "exceed" $500M.
While Red Sox officials said that they agreed with the
"general conclusions," Save Fenway's backers "defended the
renovation proposal ... noting that the cost of the project
might be reduced" (BOSTON GLOBE, 9/28).
