IMG READY TO TAKE U.S. WOMEN PRIMETIME WITH SUMMER MATCH

IMG, which made a time buy on ESPN to televise
     yesterday's Brazil-U.S. women's soccer match, "is also
talking" with ABC about showing a primetime China-U.S.
Women's World Cup rematch next summer. IMG Senior VP/Dir of
U.S. TV Sales & Programming Bob Horowitz predicts a U.S.-
China match could pull a 5 rating (ELECTRONIC MEDIA, 9/25).
Yesterday's match in Denver drew 25,009 (THE DAILY). MLS
Commissioner Don Garber, asked if a women's pro soccer
league will be a topic of discussion at MLS' meetings with
U.S. Soccer Federation delegates this week: "Our Chief
Operating Officer [Mark Abbott] is working with the
Federation on the plan. And it would be hard not to imagine
how great it would be for this league to have a male and
female component. But we've got a lot of work to do before
we get there" ("Brazil-U.S.," ESPN, 9/26).
