INTERNATIONAL KICKOFF FOR NFL: The NFL will begin
simulcasting Sunday afternoon games to broadband Internet
subscribers in The Netherlands, Austria and Singapore on
September 26. The league will "backhaul feeds from Fox and
CBS via satellite directly to the broadband networks,
eliminating the opportunity for U.S. Web surfers to view
out-of-market games via the Internet" (ELECTRONIC MEDIA,
9/23). Games will be available in The Netherlands and
Austria to subscribers of chello broadband n.v. while the
league will use SingTel Magix to broadcast in Singapore.
Broadcasts will be in both real time and through Video on
Demand and Near Video on Demand (NFL).
