UNIV. OF FLORIDA TRIES FRIENDLY APPROACH WITH SPORTS AGENTS

The Univ. of FL (UF) "has decided to try a new approach
at tackling the sports agents issue" by inviting those in
"good standing" with the various pro sports leagues to
lunch, according to David Jones of FLORIDA TODAY. On
October 18, any agent registered in the state and licensed
by the NFLPA, MLBPA or the NBPA "will be allowed to attend"
UF's Athlete Agent Education Day. In the morning, UF execs
will speak to agents about the "do's and don'ts in
attempting to sign" the school's student-athletes. The
school's athletes are able to attend the event and meet with
the agents. Between 30-40 agents are "expected" to attend
     the event (FLORIDA TODAY, 9/10).
