KY COMPANY PREPS FOR WEB SITE LAUNCH AROUND HIGH SCHOOLS

KY-based Internet startup IHigh.com "plans to be the
definitive source for high school sports information
nationwide," according to Jon Fortt of the LEXINGTON HERALD-
LEADER, who wrote that the company "isn't going into" its
effort "blind," as CEO Rick Ford "has been a key player"
with KY-based Host Communications. IHigh has "begun closing
deals with a dozen" state high school organizations,
including KY's, and the national high school sports
organization, but the company still "must figure out how to
gather scores from all over the country and post them online
quickly and reliably in a readable format." The site, whose
official launch date is set for January 1, 2000, has a
"target audience advertisers love: millions of high school
athletes and their fans." As an "incentive" to provide
information, IHigh will "let school organizations sell"
sponsorships on their section of the site. IHigh will "ask
schools to make one person responsible" for putting their
game stats on the IHigh database (HERALD-LEADER, 8/17).
