NAMES IN THE NEWS

          The SHOCK will host the first ever "WOMEN'S SPORTS
     FOUNDATION Night" when the team plays the LIBERTY tomorrow
     at the Palace.  The WSF will receive about one-half of
     ticket proceeds, which will be used to fund girls and women
     sports programs.  A VIP reception will be held prior to the
     game (WSF)....NASCAR VP/Marketing GEORGE PYNE is profiled in
     AD AGE's "On a Roll."  On expanding NASCAR's "reach into
     urban markets," Pyne says that Philadelphia "is our
     strongest market by far." Pyne adds, "Teen-agers are our
     fastest-growing audience sector, up 36% in the last three
     years" (AD AGE, 8/9)....In Philadelphia, Harriet Lessy wrote
     that the $3.4M sale of the FLYERS practice facility in
     Voorhees, NJ, is "done."  76ers G AARON MCKIE, who is
     "financed with" a $2.75M loan from Crusader Bank, is a
     partner in the deal (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 8/11).
     ...Patriots RB CHRIS FLOYD named BRAD BLANK as his agent. 
     Floyd left WOOLF ASSOCIATES when ANDREW BRANDT left the firm
     (BOSTON GLOBE, 8/12).  Blank is profiled in BOSTON MAGAZINE:
     "I get players good contracts, get them financially secure,
     help them with their endorsements.  There are very few
     elements of their life that I don't get involved in" (BOSTON
     MAGAZINE, 8/99 issue)....DENNIS RODMAN shoots a guest spot
     today in Showtime's "Linc's" series, playing a "JERRY
     SPRINGER-like" talk show host named BARRY DUBARRY, who hosts
     a show called "Dirty Drawers" (DAILY VARIETY,
     8/12)....ALEXANDRA STEVENSON, asked why she curtsied after a
     win at Wimbledon: "I was watching [ANDRE] AGASSI win the
     French Open and he bowed to four corners.  And I love Andre. 
     He's so cool.  I love how he markets himself, and I want to
     be like a girl Andre" ("Up Close," ESPN, 8/11).
