          NAMES & FACES: Michael Jordan "returns as a spokesman"
     for MCI WorldCom this week in the company's campaign touting
     its new $.05 per minute long-distance offer.  Jordan plays a
     reporter and "co-stars" with an "assortment of Looney Toons
     characters" (AD AGE, 8/9 issue)....Spurs F/C Tim Duncan has
     signed a two-year extension as a spokesperson for Sprite. 
     Duncan has appeared in four national Sprite TV ads since '98
     (Sprite)....Steelers rookie OT Kris Farris, on being
     featured in a national K-Swiss TV ad: "My agent told me this
     is a great opportunity for a rookie lineman.  I like the way
     it turned out.  It's kind of neat because they let me put a
     lot of input into it" (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 8/12)....A
     "number of Broncos" are wearing T-shirts produced by "Flip
     the Switch," a company formed by WRs Rod Smith and Ed
     McCaffrey and LB Bill Romanowski.  Smith said that the
     shirts "will be available to the public" at Denver-area
     stores (DENVER POST, 8/11)....Flutie Fruitie Snacks will
     appear in Boston and Buffalo-area stores.  MA-based Woolf
     Associates handled the deal for Doug Flutie (Woolf). 
          I DON'T KNOW, IT MUST HAVE BEEN THE ROSES: The city of
     Pasadena is funding a $25,000 study on a "possible naming-
     rights deal" for the Rose Bowl (L.A. TIMES, 8/12).
          NOTES: A federal judge ruled yesterday that Callaway
     Golf "acted properly in going after" NJ-based Fairway to
     Heaven for making "illegal knockoffs of its clubs and is
     entitled to collect damages and expenses that could exceed
     $200,000" (RECORD, 8/12).....Golfer J.L. Lewis is carrying a
     chipshot.com-branded golf bag at this week's PGA
     Championship at Medinah (chipshot.com).
