FACILITY NOTES

In Minneapolis, Jay Weiner writes that Vikings Owner
Red McCombs delivered a letter this week to Minneapolis
Mayor Sharon Sayles Belton and members of the City Council
and Hennepin County Board regarding an "immediate" and
"crucial" push for a new stadium. McCombs wrote, "I have
been waiting for political leadership and direction from the
City and County and have become increasingly disappointed by
the absence of progress." He also stated that as NFL
"revenues increase and the Vikings revenues stagnate, the
Vikings cannot be competitive and consequently cannot
survive" in the Metrodome (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 7/30).
A JOLT: The Pacers "are close to signing a deal" with
Starbucks that would place a store "next to the planned
10,000 square foot Home Court team merchandise store" in
     Conseco Fieldhouse (INDIANAPOLIS STAR-NEWS, 7/30).
