          NET RESULTS: BRANDWEEK's Terry Lefton reports that
     American Int'l Group "has signed what industry sources said
     was a three-year deal at around $500,000 per annum" with the
     Davis Cup.  The package "includes presenting sponsor status,
     patches on players' and coaches' warmups, media on ESPN and
     signage at U.S.-based Davis Cup matches."  AIG's support
     starts at this month's event in Boston (BRANDWEEK, 7/12
     issue)....MSG and Chase Manhattan Bank formally announced a
     two-year renewal of Chase's title sponsorship of the WTA
     Tour's Chase Championships (Chase Manhattan). 
          POPPIN' OFF: Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, "with the help
     of Southwestern Bell, spammed" 100,000 voice mail boxes
     Monday morning thanking fans for their support of the team
     during their championship season.   The 100,000 HHs that use
     the voice mail service represent about 250,000 San
     Antonians.  SBC Communications is the parent of Southwestern
     Bell and holds a 7% stake in the Spurs (EXPRESS-NEWS, 7/13).
