that missing among those ads cited by author Bernice Kanner
are "any Nike commercials featuring Michael Jordan,
particularly those teaming him with Spike Lee and Bugs
Bunny" (N.Y. TIMES, 6/24)....A Nike spot featuring a "young
soccer aficionado" who "rubs his soccerball with raw meat to
attract dogs and train by outrunning them" was among the
"most popular commercials" screened at the 46th Int'l
Advertising Festival in Cannes, France (USA TODAY,
6/24)....Scidel USA President & CEO Kobi Bendel, responding
to the PVI lawsuit (See THE DAILY, 6/23) alleging patent
infringement against Scidel USA: "They have no basis to this
lawsuit and we're going to oppose it very strongly" (THE
DAILY)....ESPN's Bob Stevens: "The San Francisco Giants
swear they would never compromise the health of their
players for a marketing deal. But Armando Rios is now the
second Giant -- Barry Bonds was the first -- to seek a
second opinion after the Giants' new team doctors diagnosed
a slight tear in his rotator cuff and recommended surgery.
... The Giants new health care provider [is] involved in a
marketing partnership with the team" ("SportsCenter," ESPN,
6/23). The Giants have a 12-year partnership with S.F.-
