COURT FILES: PACKERS WIN SUIT, LOGO CLAIMS NO TIE TO COLLINS

A federal jury awarded the Packers $30,000 yesterday in
ruling that WI-based apparel firm ProStyle "had infringed"
on the team's registered trademarks, according to Eldon
Knoche of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. The Packers and
NFLP filed a lawsuit in '96 claiming that ProStyle was
"illegally selling clothing" with "designs and logos
similar" to Packers marks (JOURNAL SENTINEL, 5/11).
NO CIGAR FOR COLLINS? IN-based Logo Athletic issued a
statement yesterday disclaiming any responsibility for or
involvement with Giants QB Kerry Collins in reference to a
lawsuit recently filed by Collins in NJ against several
parties, including Logo 7. Logo Athletic claims that it was
created in July '98 to purchase the assets of two
subsidiaries of VA-based Tultex Corp., but assumed only
certain liabilities of those subsidiaries, which did not
include any connection with Collins (Logo Athletic).
