TIGERS PULL ADS FROM WDFN DUE TO CRITICISM OF COMERICA PARK

The Tigers pulled $25,000 worth of advertising off of
WDFN-AM yesterday because of "what they considered undue
criticism of Comerica Park" by the station, according to Tom
Gage of the DETROIT NEWS. Tigers VP/Business Operations
David Glazier "took issue" with afternoon host and Program
Dir Gregg Henson for saying on Wednesday's show that
Comerica Park "will be 'minor-league' because its seating
capacity will be only 40,000, including suites." Glazier:
"This isn't censorship. We're not telling them what to say.
... But at the same time, we don't have to spend our dollars
with them if we don't like what they're saying." Henson,
who "defended his position": "I feel the low capacity is
strictly to drive up demand." Glazier "explained his stance
on the air," but later said that "he thinks the Tigers and
WDFN will 'work something out'" (DETROIT NEWS, 4/16).
