FACILITY NOTES: ARE NFL GIANTS LOOKING ACROSS THE HUDSON

In N.Y., Mike Freeman wrote that there are "rumors that
the Giants have been exploring the possibility of playing in
Manhattan." The Giants "deny any such interest" and point
to their lease with the Meadowlands "that runs well into the
next century" (N.Y. TIMES, 3/28)....In L.A., Ross Newhan
wrote on the Dodgers' "plan to rent the stadium" for "high-
end events when the team is on the road." Dodgers President
Bob Graziano: "You can rent a hotel ballroom any day of the
week. This is a unique opportunity" (L.A. TIMES, 3/28).
...Twins Owner Carl Pohlad said he is "encouraged" by St.
Paul Mayor Norm Coleman's "public support" for a new
ballpark: "It's music to my ears." Pohlad said a ballpark
in St. Paul is "not all that impossible." Pohlad: "We'll
play anyplace that will keep the Twins in Minnesota.
Somebody said, 'It would be a hell of a lot better in St.
Paul than in Charlotte (N.C.).'" (PIONEER PRESS, 3/28).
