The PA Supreme Court yesterday "dismissed two separate
legal challenges" to Plan B, the $809M city-county plan to
fund two new stadiums in Pittsburgh and enlarge the city's
convention center, according to Tom Barnes of the PITTSBURGH
POST-GAZETTE. The Allegheny Institute Taxpayers Coalition
and another group "sought to overturn" the vote to provide
$13.4M annually for a 30-year bond issue to finance the
sports facilities. Three more challenges to Plan B are set
for a court hearing on April 5 (PITTS. POST-GAZETTE, 3/25).
THREE BIDDERS STADIUM: In Pittsburgh, Timothy McNulty
writes that plans to sell Three Rivers Stadium seats, signs
and other memorabilia "breezed" through the Pittsburgh City
Council yesterday, but "some major complications -- such as
what to do with the money -- were left unresolved." City
Council member Dan Onorato "estimated" that the sale of
60,000 seats could raise $6M for city programs, but Public
Auditorium Authority Dir Stephen Leeper said that revenue
should be used to "defray the stadium's demolition and site-
clearance costs" (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 3/25).
