INTERNET NOTES: Michael Jordan will participate in a
live chat on his SportsLine Web site on Monday, March 22 at
7:00pm ET. The event is Jordan's first live chat since his
retirement and will be simulcast on AOL and CBS SportsLine
(SportsLine USA)....In Ft. Worth, Tommy Cummings offered his
"Sports on the Net" awards: Best Mainstream Site was CBS
SportsLine, Best Official Pro Team Site was the Sharks, and
the Best Official League site was NHL.com (STAR-TELEGRAM,
3/17).....BUSINESS 2.0's Michael Fitzgerald profiles fantasy
sports on the Web and writes that ESPN.com will "pull in
some" $2.5M in revenue from its fantasy sports business in
'99, while CBS SportsLine officials "estimate" to earn $1.5-
3M from fantasy sports (BUSINESS 2.0, 4/99 issue).
INT'L NOTES: In Toronto, Rob Longley reports that CBC
will use the NHL's int'l feed for Saturday's Maple Leafs-
Devils game. "Hockey Night in Canada" announcers Bob Cole
and Harry Neale will call the game from a booth in
Philadelphia. CBC will use a management team to produce the
second "HNIC" game on Saturday between the Canucks-Oilers
(TORONTO SUN, 3/18). Also in Toronto, Michael Clement
writes that CBC "could be crippled by noon tomorrow," as the
broadcaster's 3,000 person creative staff "have set a strike
deadline of noon Friday" (TORONTO SUN, 3/18).
NOTES: After TNT's Craig Sager reported Tuesday that
Lakers C Shaquille O'Neal had "called a team vote to fine"
Dennis Rodman, O'Neal said in amusement, "Craig Sager's a
liar. If TNT said that, then I'm taking -- what's his name,
the owner of TNT? -- I'll take Ted Turner to court, and I'll
settle out for a million. I'm gonna sue Ted" (L.B. PRESS-
TELEGRAM, 3/18)....In Milwaukee, Bob Wolfley notes that
ESPN's upcoming "SportsCentury" tribute to Julius Erving
includes "the musings" of NBC news anchor Tom Brokaw.
