          JOHN F. KENNEDY JR. visited MIKE TYSON in jail 
     yesterday.  Kennedy said he was "really here just as a
     friend" (WASHINGTON POST, 3/12).....Producer LARRY THOMPSON
     said that he is working on a two-hour bio film on the life
     of JOE DIMAGGIO and MARILYN MONROE and "is in talks" with
     two networks (REUTERS, 3/12)....OLIVER STONE's film "ANY
     GIVEN SUNDAY" is looking for "local extras to fill a stadium
     of spectators" at Miami's Orange Bowl.  Film Publicist MARCY
     BERLOW: "The extras can do whatever they want.  They can
     show enthusiasm in any way, but they need to wear black and
     white; the colors of the Sharks [the fictional team]." 
     Extras won't be paid (Ft. Lauderdale SUN-SENTINEL,
     3/12)....CA-based surfwear company QUICKSILVER President BOB
     MCKNIGHT was profiled in the ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER after
     the company announced "sterling" first quarter earnings "on
     the heels of a record" '98.  Earnings last year rose 42%, to
     $18M, on sales of $316M.  The company is in a "position to
     grow through acquisitions" (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 3/11).
